Scented Candle Usage Instructions

Thank you for purchasing a Collines de Provence scented candle. To get the most out of our candles, let us guide you through these few usage tips and safety precautions.

Before lighting your scented candle

Before lighting the candle, ensure that the wick is not too long to avoid a flame that is too large and excessive smoke. Your candle wick should measure approximately 5 mm from the surface of the wax. If necessary, trim the wick with a wick trimmer or a pair of scissors. A well-trimmed, straight wick will ensure a lovely flame and an even burn.

While burning your scented candle

Let your scented candle burn until the entire surface is liquid. This will prevent the wax from tunneling and forming a well, which would lead to an uneven burn. The minimum and maximum burn times are indicated on the label found under our candles. The burn time is specific depending on the size and the wick used. Here are the main burn times for our scented candles:

• Small 75g wood wick candle: 30 minutes minimum to 1 hour maximum
• Classic 180g cotton wick candle: 1 hour minimum to 2 hours maximum
• Classic 180g wood wick candle: 1 hour minimum to 2.5 hours maximum
• Large 250g to 420g candle: 2 hours minimum to 3 hours maximum

Do not exceed the maximum burn time. This can alter the quality of the fragrance. Never leave a burning candle unattended. For large scented candles composed of multiple wicks, light all of the wicks each time you use it. Do not move the candle when it is lit or while the wax is still liquid. Never place a lit candle in a draft or in direct contact with a fragile surface. It must be placed on a flat, heat-resistant surface.

After burning your scented candle

To extinguish your scented candle, we recommend using its lid (ceramic or metal) or a candle snuffer to avoid any splashing of liquid wax or the release of smoke.

Re-center the wick in the wax after each use to ensure the candle is consumed evenly before the wax hardens again. The wick should not touch the container. Finally, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm from the wax surface before each use with scissors or a wick trimmer to prevent the candle from smoking or the wick from falling into the wax, which could render your candle unusable.

A candle is finished when only 5 mm of wax remains; it should not be relit, as this risks overheating and causing the container to break.

Precautions for use

As a safety measure, use the candle for its intended purpose and in accordance with the instructions for use on each product. It is important to follow the safety pictograms indicated on the packaging.

• Light the candle on a heat-resistant surface
• Do not place your lit candle on a bookshelf or in a closed cubby
• Keep lit candles out of reach of children and pets
• Never leave a lit candle unattended
• Keep your candles away from flammable sources or objects
• Keep your candles away from drafts, curtains, or open windows
• Never place a candle on electronic devices
• Never handle your candles when the wax is hot
• Always leave several centimeters between lit candles
• Do not swallow
• Always ensure that the smoke detector is in working order before use
• Do not leave matches or other debris in the wax
