The Collines de Provence Amber & Heliotrope scented candle has a classic and timeless design to create a soothing, softly-lit and sumptuously-scented setting. It is made from plant-based wax incorporating natural ingredients in a unique fragrant complex created by our Grasse expert. It smells as good as it looks.
Heliotrope:
Heliotrope takes its name from how its leaves rotate to face the sun. There are around 250 species worldwide and we pay tribute to a famous blue variety with a very delicate fragrance. Our fragrant heliotrope gives perfumes a floral note with smooth and balsamic vanilla scents. Whilst we're on the subject of perfume, heliotrope is naturally fragrant and doesn't need extraction or artificial concentration, making it one of the scented stars of the garden. The scent of blue, purple and white heliotrope is widely used in perfumery. Rustic heliotrope only really needs one thing: lots of sunshine. The heliotrope symbolises devotion in the language of flowers.
Amber:
Before vegetal amber, Amber was an animal material produced by sperm whales. The sea and sun turned the amber into a solid block that released a powerful and complex aroma. Plant-based ingredients have now been blended to create vegetal amber which can be dissolved in the fragrance base: "golden amber", a crystalline resin made from plants such as incense, myrrh and benzoin. Vegetal amber is used for its sweet, spicy, animal and musky notes.
Heliotrope:
Also known as cherry pie, heliotrope comes from South America. The flower blooms on a shrub that can produce a series of branches exceeding one metre tall. The flower naturally contains its own signature aromatic molecule: heliotropin, whose scent produces its incomparable smooth personality similar to vanilla. This key note was used in countless legendary perfumes celebrating the sun-soaked ingredient's deep blue. Its heat is almost animal in some compositions and can give a "creamy" dimension to overly metallic floral fragrances. The first famous amber fragrance was produced in the 1920s by a leading perfume brand. The Oriental family then significantly grew with scents bringing to mind the magic and contrasts of far-flung lands and the Orient. It is seen by some as an essential ingredient and widely used in contemporary perfumery.
Amber:
Amber was one of the most precious ingredients in perfumery, long before its vegetal form appeared. It was used in countless perfume and cosmetic formulas and seen as a goldmine among whalers: nestled deep inside gigantic sperm whales, well-known for their wild side, amber was worth its weight in gold. Vegetal amber is worlds away from the 19th century whale hunts and nightmare scenes famously depicted in Herman Melville's Moby Dick. You no longer have to pay with your life for the incomparable scent of amber: resin, flowers and wax are all it takes to whisk you away to far-flung lands. It is now used in all kinds of fragrances for men and women alike.
Our Amber and Heliotrope scented candle fragrance is in the Oriental scent family: light it up to unlock its delicately woody and spicy note to explore the Orient.
