Recommended Use
SCENTED CANDLE

Thank you for buying a Collines de Provence scented candle. We want you to get the most out of our candles so here is some user advice.

BEFORE YOU LIGHT
YOUR CANDLE

Before you light the candle, check the wick isn't too long so the flame isn't too big and doesn't give off too much smoke. Your candle wick should be about 5mm from the wax surface. If necessary, cut the wick with a wick trimmer or scissors. A straight and properly-cut wick will ensure you have a good flame and steady burn.

WHILST YOUR SCENTED CANDLE
IS LIT

Let your scented candle burn until the entire surface is liquid. That will stop the wax hollowing out and forming a well causing an inconsistent burn. The minimum and maximum burn time is stated on the label on the base of our candles. The burn time depends on the size and wick. Here are the standard burn times for our scented candles:

Small 75g candle:  30 minutes - 1.5 hours

Classic 180g candle with a cotton wick:  1.5 hours - 2.5 hours

Classic 180g candle with a wood wick: 1 hour - 2.5 hours

Large 250-420g candle: 2 hours - 3 hours

Do not exceed the maximum burn time. It can affect the quality of the fragrance. Never leave a lit candle unattended. The large scented candles have several wicks so light all of them every time you use it. Do not move the candle when lit or when the wax is still liquid. Never move a lit candle in a draught or bring it into contact with an unstable surface. Please place it on a flat heat-resistant surface.

AFTER BURNING
YOUR SCENTED CANDLE

When it's time to put your scented candle out, we recommend you use the lid (ceramic or metal) or a snuffer to avoid any molten wax splashes or smoke emission.

Recentre the wick before the wax hardens after every use so the candle burns consistently. The wax should not touch the container. Last but not least, cut the wick with scissors or a wick trimmer so it is 5cm off the wax surface. This avoids the candle smoking or the wick falling into the wax, rendering your candle useless.

When there is no more than 5cm of wax, the candle is finished. You must not light it as it may overheat and the container may break.

Have you considered re-using our candle jars? You could give them a new lease of life: candle holders, vases, pencil pots etc.
